Our Story

Copacity Origin: Solar-powered super bowl trophies

In 2011, I worked with the local leadership at Tiffany and Co. who was tasked with slashing both energy costs and carbon footprint.  Unsure how to navigate it all, through my role as director of the State of Rhode Island renewable energy office, I walked them through identifying the opportunity, sourcing and evaluating vendors, negotiating pricing and contract terms and ensured they maximized the full slate of incentives for renewable energy.

The resulting rooftop solar project was a marked success.

And it hit me.  Plenty of organizations need just this very assistance.  So I started the consulting firm Clean Economy Development, LLC and for the past ten years have guided many organizations through the process of procuring clean energy.  Coming off the COVID-19 pandemic, the next inspiration struck: Through technology we can create a simpler, streamlined and more effective platform that both buyers & sellers could use to facilitate clean energy transactions.

Cue Copacity. We’re saving both buyers and sellers time, money, resources, and a world of headaches by facilitating this clean energy transition..

Whether an affordable housing developer using solar to eliminate utility bills for its tenants, a municipality entering into long-term contracts to reduce expenses for taxpayers, or a business finding ways to meet corporate sustainability goals and reduce operating costs, Copacity can help.
